Did you know there’s a difference between yarning over and yarning under? Yarning over is the traditional way to work a stitch, but yarning under does have its perks. Widely used in amigurumi, working a single crochet by yarning under is also referred to as cross-stitch single crochet, because it makes stitches that look like little Xs. Yarning under also uses a bit less yarn, therefore, resulting in tighter stitches. Another reason it’s perfect for amigurumi.
Ever forget to change color on the last yarn over? Instead of redoing the stitch simply insert the hook through the center of the stitch, pick up the new color and pull through. After working next few stitches pull on the old color tail to tighten the loop, or you can do that right away.
