Perennials for the shade

Shade is one of my favorite places to garden. Lots of colorful plants that are generally much easier to maintain than plants in the hot sun.

'Snow Angel' Coral Bells works in all kinds of places, from full shade to more sun. The variegated crinkly leaves makes this a cool looking plant, even without the nonstop pink blooms.
Hosta in a pot! It works and it works well....every spring they return...in the pot! Love the idea of putting other things with them!
Heuchera 'Snow Angel' H18"xW12"...a lower mounding coral bell with the variegated foliage only getting about 10" high. It's real show is the bright red blooms, which seem to attract butterflys and hummingbirds.
Strike It Rich Gold Heucherella bring color to the shade bed with its bright gold foliage.
Ligularia 'The Rocket'- big bold plant with large yellow spikes. Needs moist soil if it isn't located in the shade.
Black Scallop Bugleweed (Ajuga reptans) has attractive small crinkled round leaves that emerge burgundy in spring, turning deep purple in color the rest of the year.
Bloomstruck Hydrangea with Mystic Dahlia make a great combination. #Hydrangea #Bloomstruck
'Marmalade' Heuchera and 'Jack Frost' Brunnera make a colorful combination in the shade garden! #shadegardening #coralbells
Delft Lace Astilbe. Besides the beautiful blooms and clean bright leaves, it has deep red stems. A beautiful plant for the shade garden or landscape.
