Grand Duchess Maria and a very young Tsarevich Alexej (Romanov) Actually, this isn’t Alexei. Maria is much too old in this photo for the toddler to be Alexei. This looks to be in 1908 or so, Alexei was born in 1904. By age 4 he was taller, etc etc.  Here’s a photo of him in 1907, certainly taller and hairier than the boy in the photo.  The boy in the photo is most likely a German cousin, though I’m unsure of which cousin it is.
