APOPHYLLITE-(KOH) N'Chwaning II Mine , Kuruman , Kalahari manganese fields , Northern Cape , South Africa The N'Chwaning II mine is well known worldwide for their copies of Olmiite or rhodochrosite, among many other mineral species. But this mine has also provided limited but excellent specimens of hidroxilapofilita or apophyllite-(KOH). This is one of them, perhaps the best I've seen.
AZURITE with MALACHITE: The habitus is very unusual. The absence of the main prism suggests the apparent form of a dipyramid or an octahedron. The contrast between the vivid blue of the Azurite and the intense green of the Malachite is superb. This is one of the few pieces found with this crystallographic habitus at the locality.
