Crest Theater, Sacramento - So lucky to have a place this amazing practically in my back yard.
They sure knew how to open a movie back in 1933, didn’t they? Here’s a photograph of how one cinema got all gussied up for their showing of the RKO monster hit “King Kong.” My new novel, “Sabotage at RKO Studio,” ends with the Hollywood premiere of this movie at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. I’ve been looking for a photograph of that premiere. Descriptions of it include the original huge Kong head set up in the forecourt of the theater. Anyone have photographs of that premiere? Let me know.
The Uninvited (1944) advertised on a theater marquee.
