I really enjoyed doing this stitch - I have just finished a Feather Stitch challenge for &stitches ezine andstitches.blogspot.co.uk/p/shop.html#!/~/category/id=0&... but I hadn't included any knotted stitches. So it was great to try this out. I put in some Spanish Knotted Feather Stitch (on the elephant's backside) but I don't think it looks that great - it's a bit of a messy looking stitch I think.
