"She's going to be ok, right?" I barely whispered, afraid of the answer. I held the girl's face in my hands, desperately wishing for her eyes to open. He held his fingers to her neck, checking for a pulse. His eyes wouldn't meet my gaze. "We need to get her to the village." I felt tears drip from my eyes. I couldn't lose her. She reminded me too much of Kilsa. She couldn't die.
