A Series of Windows, by Vilhelm Hammershøi . Danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916) took inspiration from the everyday life, painting time and again the same scenes of the home and studio he shared with his wife Ida in Copenhagen. The spaces appear almost empty, with only some furniture that moves around from one painting to another and the occasional figure of his wife sewing or reading. The interiors show an atmosphere of calm and austere domesticity, and are in great part defined…
