Jacqueline (age 7) is a ‘restavek’, a child given by impoverished parents to a foster family in the hope that they will have a better life. Like many restaveks, Jacqueline has become a domestic servant, does not attend school, and has no toys. She lives in the Acra camp in Port-au-Prince for people displaced by the 12 January 2010 earthquake. Haiti, 2010: ©UNICEF/Roger LeMoyne - http://www.unicef.org/photography
