The Unicorn Purifies Water (from the Unicorn Tapestries) | French (cartoon)/South Netherlandish (woven) | The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Unicorn is Found (from the Unicorn Tapestries), 1495–1505. South Netherlandish. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Gift of John D. Rockefeller Jr., 1937 (37.80.2) #Cloisters
Got to see this in person, it was beautiful, strange and fascinating. (The Lady and the Unicorn, on display in the Musée du Moyen-Âge, is often considered one of the greatest works of art of the Middle Ages in Europe. Five of the tapestries are commonly interpreted as depicting the five senses – taste, hearing, sight, smell, and touch.)
