Before you say “that won’t work here in X” or “I tried that and it didn’t work,” permaculture is not one method, it isn’t a one size fits all. 

It is a philosophy, a way of looking at your garden as a reflection of nature, which it is. 

A desire to work with nature instead of against it. 

My focus is this: give to my garden, and trust that it will give back in return. I think most people can get on board with that philosophy, right? 

So why doesn’t everyone use it in their gardens? I think the problem is a lack of education and generational passing down of this knowledge. It’s existed forever, it isn’t new. 

Native and Indigenous communities have been practicing this philosophy long before me, and I’m so thankful they did, because it gave back to the land instead of taking from it,
