Chilean-Style Beef Empanadas - Empanadas de Pino
Chile- Empanadas de Pino-In Chile, the most traditional empanada filling is called "pino". Pino is a seasoned mixture of ground beef, onions, raisins, black olives, and hard boiled eggs. The empananda dough is quick and easy to make, and can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator. The pino tastes best if made the day before and allowed to rest overnight before filling the empanandas.
Cherimoya - Also known as "sugar apple". It grows on a medium sized tree. It is ripe when the sections begin to open up and reveal an off white inside. To eat simply break in half with hands and eat with a spoon.
Marraquetas - Chilean French Bread Rolls
La Marraqueta existe solo en mi pais...comerla caliente con mantequilla es lo mejor!
Mote con Huesillo! Probably the most Chilean of all beverages (at least of those that LDS missionaries can drink...) I love this stuff! It is basically a dried peach in peach juice with wheat berries. So yummy! I once dressed up as Mote and my companion went as Huesillo to a costume party... fun times!
