(91 Points) Casablanca Chardonnay tends to be high in acid and a little steely - quite different from California Chardonnay. It is not a big, showy wine in the California style and nor is our 2010 Sabino Chardonnay. It still a little lean and nervy, but it also has some intriguing savory notes reminiscent of Old World Chardonnay.

Our 2012 Cariblanco Sauvignon Blanc is pale in color but explosively flavorful. Primarily green fruits — green apples, kiwi and lime, some grapefruit rind and a touch of minerals. On the palate, it’s crisp and racy, but as always Cariblanco offers a deceptive richness and body on the mid-palate. Light on its feet and energetic but not skinny.

The 2011 CJ's is ripe, forward fruit with less spice and more berry. A touch of roasted meat. Soft and generous on the palate, fairly quick to show its charms. This makes it a bit of an outlier compared to previous Syrah vintages, which tend towards reticence in their youth, and need air to open up. This one is friendly, and almost juicy.

(92 pts) In the aromas, the 2011 Lucero has some meaty notes as well as fresh blackberry. Hints of Mediterranean spices. A little less sauvage and earthy than the 2010 Lucero. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced, almost Pinot-like in the way the acid, tannin and fruit come together.

The 2011 Tobiano is meant to be lighthearted and easy drinking. But there is also a "serious" side to the wine if you are able to give a little patience, some air, or a little time. Aromatically it is more savory than fruity, but on the palate it is round, soft, and approachable.

(90 pts) 2011 CJ's Barrel has a defining characteristic of being deep red and concentrated without any lingering heat. The fruits tend toward the darker end of the spectrum but there is a core of freshness and purity in this wine that is very appealing.

(91 pts) The 2011 Alazan is a little slow to reveal itself. The wine has a core of sweet fruit and an almost cooling quality on the palate. Aromatically it is a bit shy. There is some cherry fruit and just a touch of earthiness. The wine goes beyond the realm of dark fruit. It is less forward and fruity and not quite as big.
