My husband and I recently purchased our home from the original owner. She and her husband carefully built it in 1952. After purchasing it we thought about how we wanted to personalize it for us. It hadn't been updated since 1976 (think Bi-Centennial). It was like we had walked into a museum for all items Americana. Anything that was red, white and blue, had Uncle Sam on it or featured an American flag was in this home. Complete with thick green carpet and doily lace curtains. We want to preserve the character and time period of the home but give it a slight rustic and industrial twist....
