Chile, a very thin and long country located along the lower western side of South America extends for over 4300 km from the driest desert on earth to the vast expanses of the Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. Along the way there are interesting cities and colourful villages, scorched dunes, fertile valleys, volcanoes, mighty rivers, ancient forests, massive glaciers and fjords.

The Red Lagoon is located at approximately 3700 meters above sea level in the Arica and Parinacota Region, in northern Chile. It is accessible from the town of Camiña, located 147 km from the city of Iquique. This lake of hot water (about 40-50 °C) is also called “Red Sea” by the local people. Its depth is unknown to the locals who attribute supernatural powers to the red water. There are myths of mysterious disappearances and deaths of Aymara Indians who drank the water.

La Serena Lighthouse. The monument blends the features of a lighthouse and a colonial Spanish fort. On the first level, there are four projections in each corner designed as bulwarks and a great canyon facing the Pacific Ocean. On the second level, there is a fortification with protected guard placements at each corner. The tower holds the headlamp and the upper balcony topped with battlements. The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus located in the city of Puerto Varas, in the region of Los Lagos, Chile. The Parish was built between 1915 and 1918 in Romanesque and Baroque style. The construction used mostly native woods including ulmo, oak, mañío and laurel. The exterior walls are coated by iron plates and the roof by larch tiles. Its design is based on the churches of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. It was declared a National Monument of Chile in 1992.

Conguillío National Park. The scenery of the Araucania Region offers many mountains, lakes and lagoons. The majestic Llaima volcano, one of the most active in South America, dominates the landscape. The park has a very diverse fauna, and its vegetation includes the last remnants of the flora of the Upper Cretaceous.
