If you've been enviously eyeing the extraordinary wisteria on display across Britain and wondering how you can grow your own, help is at hand. Alan Titchmarsh shares his advice for growing this most glorious of horticultural spectacles.

By planting wisteria in a contained planter, you can grow and train these beautiful flowering vines without making a permanent mark in the ground or crowding nearby plants with what can typically be known as an invasive vine.

Thankfully, Wisteria grows well in containers, though there is a bit of extra maintenance involved. To keep your potted Wisteria happy, you will need to check it each day to see if it needs watering, apply fertilizer monthly in the growing season, and either repot it to a bigger container or prune back the root system from time to time.
