The Lady of the Lake. In 1997, Princess Diana was laid to rest on a small island in Round Oval lake, inhabited by black swans, on the Spencer family estate, Althorp, in North Hampshire. Only an urn on a pillar is visible from shore. The path to the island’s entry is lined with 36 birch trees, one for every year of her life.
