Lost cast waxing rings

Here is the last jewellery project I designed from my model making course which ended in January. It was my first real project where I had to do a lot of tiny intricate carving. The cuff bracelets I made were easier to work with because I had more surface area and the designs weren't detailed, although of course it took much longer to finish each bracelet. I definitely saw an improvement in my carving from when I started to when I finished this ring, and in fact what I'm showing off below is…

This is a photographic tour of my lost wax casting process - a detailed though brief tutorial, and also gives a look at how much work goes in to each ring.

An ancient jewellery making process that dates back to around 3700 BC, we look at how today’s designers are using this time-honoured technique to create unique engagement rings.

new work coming soon 🌿 i’ve been super busy with work at the moment and spending lots of late nights on a little desk in my room making new jewellery for you guys! for those that don’t know, i’ve been travelling australia since late 2022 and am currently doing a snow season in victoria ❄️ so when i’m not working my hospo job or snowboarding, i’ve been trying to fit in as much jewellery making as possible! super keen for this next collection to launch !!!

from wax to metal 🕯️ crafted from recycled sterling silver using the ancient lost wax casting process, each piece starts from a block of wax that i carve, melt and engrave before sending it off to get cast into metal. all of these one off beauties are still available & looking for their forever homes!
