Location inspiration

I imagined this piece in the waning weeks of a Pennsylvania winter, when the snows were beginning to melt and the first breaths of Spring's warmth had begun to caress the land. For me, however, newness and promise have always mingled with uncertainty and the need for courage as I step into the unknown. Truth is stranger than fiction, or so the saying goes. And if you think massive, underground cities is something confined to fantasy and science fiction, here are several, real locations that humans have made their homes deep beneath the ground over the years.

There is a campsite at Þakgil and is located between Mýrdalsjökull (Mt. Katla) and Mýrdalssand. The name can be translated as "the canyon with a roof". The road to Þakgil is 14km from highway number 1 is one of the most beautiful "entrance" to a camp site that I've travelled to. The landscape is amazing around the raod as well as further away. The camp site itself will be revealed at the last turn.
