Creating the texture actually took longer than painting it, something which keeps surprising me. Here it is before I added colour - visual might help you to understand how it was done.

I've tested quite a few Gesso recipes, but this one has worked the best for me so far. For this project you'll need: 3 parts cornstarch, 3 parts baking soda, 1 part Elmer's glue, 1 part white acrylic paint, and 2-3 parts water. First, mix the cornstarch and baking soda together
