U Ngwe Gaing (1901-1967) was famous for his creations both in watercolor and oil. He is recognized as one of the top Myanmar artists for his prolific paintings. His art teachers were U Po Aung, U Ba Ohn, U Ba Sein and a very prominent artist U Ba Nyan. U Ngwe Gaing’s versatile skill can be seen in a broad spectrum of portraits, landscapes, still life and historical paintings. Nowadays, his works can be seen at the Yangon National Museum, the Shan State Museum and the Singapore Art Museum.
