a man holding a hammer in his hand
Paul de Andrade on Instagram: "I used to think that once you cut hydrangeas and put them in a vase they had only hours or days until they’d turn into a sad, wilted mess. Not anymore - thanks to my handy rubber mallet."
a man standing next to a bush with flowers on it and the caption did you know this about hydrangeas?
Simon Akeroyd on Instagram: "Not only can you cut the flower heads off hydrangeas now to provide you with a floral display all winter, but if you place the stems in water you will also get free hydrangea plants. This is because the stems sprout roots easily which you can insert into compost and each one will become a new hydrangea plant. #plantpropagation #growhydrangeas"

Vas Karpetas on Instagram: "Here is how I support my Hydrangeas to have beautiful blooms during the summer months . I still support my Hydrangea Incrediball just for extra strength. So many of you have asked me why are my hydrangeas still standing after all the rain we have had here you can see why . Yes I am a bit obsessed about them but I love a good solution to my plant problems lol . I hope this video helps you to keep our loved Annabelle’s in place next year and not on the floor . Sorry about the video blip don’t know why that happened. a man sitting on the ground in front of green plants with words above him that say how to take hydrangea cuttings in late summer
Michael Griffiths on Instagram: "How to take hydrangea cuttings in late summer Select healthy, non-flowering shoots 10-15cm long, that have at least three sets of leaves below the top set of leaves. Trim below a node then remove the sets of leaves on the lower nodes by snipping them off as close to the stem as possible. Cut each hydrangea leaf in half with a knife. This reduces water loss and the stress endured by the rooting process. Insert the cuttings individually into small pots filled with gritty propagation compost Put in partial sun and keep the soil moist but not wet. You should see new leaves forming soon which means the cutting has rooted."
a man is tending to some plants in the garden with words describing how they are growing
Vas Karpetas on Instagram: "Hydrangea Annabelle’s are really easy to grow but they do need maintenance especially after all the rain we had a few days ago. I would definitely recommend strong Annabelle as they stand taller and don’t snap as easy. Even though Annabelle’s can be a bit tricky with the rain I still adore them . a vase filled with white flowers sitting on top of a stone slab in front of a house
The_gardensage11 on Instagram: "To preserve your hydrangeas is quick and easy. Select flowers just before they reach their peak. Follow the stem down to a node and cut just above it. Then take the stem and make a second cut just below a node. Have a vase ready with about 2” of water and add the stems to the vase. Leave the flowers in the vase until all the water is absorbed.DO NOT ADD WATER. In about a week your hydrangeas should be dry and ready for anything you have in mind. #hydrangea #dryingflowers #gardeninspiration #gardening #preservingflowers #annabellehydrangea"
