Despacho ceremony is a beautiful and ancient ceremony performed throughout Peru. In a Despacho ceremony, the shaman constructs an offering of gratitude to Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the Apus (Mountain Spirits). Prayers of gratitude or request are placed in the offering. Prayers are then "dispatched" to the Guides and Spirits when the offering is burned by the shaman.
Mapuche Machi is a shaman in the Mapuche culture, Chile in South America; and is also an important character and the Mapuche mythology.
El lenguaje de la machi cuando entra en trance es semejante al onírico: “se produce en diversos planos y saltos abruptos, con la aparición de figuras míticas”, mezclándose elementos aparentemente inconexos . Los mapuches son grandes estudiosos de los sueños (peuma), siempre interpretados como mensajes provenientes de los pillanes del Wenu Mapu;
