A couple notes: - You don’t have to use CMC gum, you could also just let your glaze evaporate until it’s thick enough, but that requires a little more time and attention then I want to give. - If you have silk screen medium from Mayco, I’m 99% sure that is just CMC gum repackaged so it will work just as well if you already have it, but it is cheaper to buy a bag of CMC gum on amazon if you plan on using this technique frequently. - Underglazes or opaque glazes will give you the boldest color! I printed with the same glaze that I dipped this cup in, and you can see that the polar bear is a little bit lighter than the rest of the cup. I like this look, because it helps the polar bear stand out a little bit, but if you want a boulder color, I recommend using underglaze or a more opaque dark glaze. - Avoid glazes that run a lot, as they will sometimes bleed together and make it so that your image isn’t as crisp. if you have any other questions, feel free to let me know! | EZScreenPrint | Facebook

Lyndsay Meiklem Dean Ⓥ on Instagram: "Screen printing is a fun way to transfer graphics, logos and other detailed imagery directly onto clay. I’m beginning to experiment with creating my own screens thanks to supplies from @smalldogprints but in the meantime I’m playing with a few small screens they sent me to try out. These screens are super flexible and with a touch of @maycocolors screen printing medium added to my @speedball_ceramics underglaze they performed really well without the need for washing in between prints which made it super easy to achieve an all over pattern on a larger piece of clay. I’m excited to begin playing with printing my own screens as I begin a few projects near and dear to my vegan animal rights heart so stay tuned!!!! . . . . #screenprintingonclay #printingon
