ARTESANÍA CHILENA:  El trabajo textil posee características propias. El telar araucano es el llamado "huitral", consistente en cuatro trozos de madera que se cruzan en los extremos , y tiene una altura de poco más de dos metros. Este trabajo artesanal es esencialmente femenino. Se tejen de esta forma los "chamales" o mantas femeninas y masculinas, ponchos y frazadas, así como también los famosos "choapinos", especie de alfombras, muy codiciadas en el mercado por la calidad del tejido.
