Isle of the Dead (painting) - Wikipedia
Arnold Böcklin - Die Toteninsel, or "Isle of the Dead", is the best-known painting of Swiss Symbolist artist Arnold Böcklin (1827–1901). Prints of the work were very popular in central Europe in the early 20th century—Vladimir Nabokov observed in his novel Despair that they were to be "found in every Berlin home." Böcklin produced five different versions of the mysterious painting between 1880 and 1886. This one is number three.
